With so many things to worry about when you’re planning a project, do you really want to have to worry about Dumpster rental fees? The good news is that there are plenty of ways to avoid them! Check out these tips to find out how to avoid Dumpster rental fees and make your next project run smoother than ever before.

Give Detailed Delivery Instructions to the Drop-Off Site

Make sure you give them detailed instructions so they can deliver it correctly. For example, do you need a special entrance or area that needs free access? These questions should be addressed in detail during drop-off. The more information you provide, the easier it will be for them to get it right. If there are areas where trucks are not allowed or restricted, make sure you find an appropriate spot for them to leave your dumpster (or sometimes dumpsters cannot be left at all). This can save you from paying extra fees on pickup. It is also important to know if you’ll need any other permits/paperwork to complete delivery. Again, getting everything squared away beforehand saves money and headaches later on.

Weigh Your Waste Before Renting

Nothing is more disappointing than receiving a dumpster rental bill that’s way higher than expected. You could have used a different sized dumpster for your project, if you had just weighed your waste before renting. Save time and money by weighing it yourself. But remember: no matter how careful you are, there are always unknown variables—so don’t worry too much about being off by a few pounds one way or another. The important thing is getting an accurate picture of what size dumpster you need. And as long as you know what weight range to shoot for, then chances are good that you’ll still end up with a bin that can handle all of your trash. That said, take extra care when estimating weights of items like furniture or appliances; these items can be heavier than they look!

Avoid Filling the Dumpster with Extra Junk or Debris

Unless you plan on using a dumpster for a very specific purpose, like clearing out old junk that’s taking up space in your garage, make sure you don’t fill it with random household garbage. Just because you can fit items in a dumpster doesn’t mean you should. Once your first dumpster is loaded and delivered to your home or work site, consider whether or not each of those items is something that absolutely needs to be thrown away. If there are items that are just taking up space, add them to another pile for donation or set aside until you have enough trash for another dumpster load.

Keep the Dumpster Covered

One way to avoid dumpster rental fees is by making sure your dumpster is covered when it’s not in use.  This prevents people from using it without permission. Plus if you can keep your garbage container covered at all times, it will prevent potential rain or snow from accumulating inside and causing waste removal fees down the road.

Keep the Dumpster Location Accessible

Renting a dumpster can be confusing, so make sure you have room for your bin when it arrives. For example, if you order a 20-yard dumpster, ensure you have at least 20 yards of space in an open area where no vehicles or obstacles block it. Trip fees may incur if we are unable to drop off the dumpster or pick it up on the dates agreed upon due to inaccessibility. If we are unable to pick up the dumpster on the date agreed upon by both parties, every extra day the dumpster is held will incur a fee.

Other Fees

If you cancel a dumpster rental after it’s been delivered and placed on your property, there will be a cancellation fee. These fees differ by location and dumpster.  Wait time is another potential charge. If our delivery workers have to wait to deliver or pick up the dumpster at the job site, a wait fee is charged by the hour.  If your dumpster needs to be towed away, there will be a tow fee added on top of that. Most times this fee is incurred due to the dumpster sinking into the ground as you fill it up.
